Where Tax Strategy Meets Artificial Intelligence

I’m Ammar Ashour — tax and financial consultant, entrepreneur, and doctoral researcher studying how artificial intelligence is transforming the accounting profession.

For the past eight years, I’ve helped individuals, small businesses, and government contractors navigate the financial side of their operations through my firm, A&A Tax Consulting LLC, based in Orange, California. Today, I’m bridging two worlds that rarely talk to each other: hands-on financial practice and rigorous academic research on AI in accounting.

My Practice: A&A Tax Consulting LLC

A&A Tax Consulting is a licensed tax and financial consulting firm serving a portfolio of more than 800 clients across California and nationwide. Our core services include:

  • Tax preparation and strategic tax planning for individuals and small businesses
  • Bookkeeping and financial reporting that gives owners real visibility into their numbers
  • Grant accounting and compliance for organizations managing public and private funding
  • Government contractor financial compliance — helping firms meet the financial standards required to win and keep federal and state contracts

A&A is a registered federal contractor (SAM.gov, CAGE-coded) and actively supports clients pursuing opportunities with California state agencies and federal buyers. We understand procurement compliance because we live it ourselves.

What we’re not: A&A is a consulting firm, not a CPA firm. For engagements requiring CPA licensure — such as audits and attestation work — we partner with established CPA firms so clients get the right credential for the right job.

My Research: AI Reskilling in Accounting

I’m a doctoral candidate in the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program at California Southern University. My dissertation is a phenomenological study of how mid-to-senior California CPAs experience AI reskilling — examining perceived productivity, job satisfaction, and ethical awareness as the profession absorbs tools like machine learning and generative AI.

Why this topic? Because I’ve watched AI change my own practice in real time. The accounting profession isn’t being replaced by AI — it’s being reshaped by it, and the professionals who thrive will be the ones who learn to work alongside these tools. My research aims to give firms and practitioners evidence-based insight into what that transition actually feels like from the inside, and what makes reskilling succeed or fail.
